Merchants at the Market Square
2014 will see the return, finally, on the Market Place to Vegetables Festival.
The “La Basse Cour” cafés , “Les Poules à bier” , the “Code Bar ” (change of name in court), and the Piano Bar have decided to participate actively in this return by offering 1,000 euros who will go directly to the Programming and Scenography Festival to reinvest This emblematic place of the Namurois.
These young bosses are eager to give back to the Place du Marché aux Vegetables its nobility, attracting again a quality clientele and we are very happy.
Two entries are programmed as well as various ambulatory shows.
Aurelien will also see how to improve the scenography to the extent of our possibilities.
The Jokers
This year, the Festival gives the biggest fans of “Namur in May” to buy “Jokers”.
A part of the gauge of the paid shows will be bookable for a surplus of 1,50 € on the base price. The Jokers give privileged access to all paying shows.
The suspended shows
Based on the system of “hanging cafés”, “Namur in May” decided to inaugurate this year a new tradition: the “suspended shows”.
The principle is simple: in an urn at the entrance of the ticket office, everyone can give a “penny”, and release his pocket in order to benefit the most deprived people.
A great opportunity to offer to those who do not have the opportunity to attend shows and open up to the wonderful world of “Namur in May”.
The families who will benefit from these “suspended shows” will be supervised by two well-known associations of Namur, Royale Moncrabeau and Cinex asbl, already strongly present among the poorest.
The Molons
The Royal Moncrabeau , which brings together the 40 Molons and has its own orchestra, is probably the oldest folk society in Wallonia. The Molons have always remained faithful to their motto “pleasure and charity”, and these jovial fellows are proud to have never failed in their duty to the poor: every Monday evening, the committee analyzes the requests Less well off and provides financial assistance as needed.

The Cinex asbl
The Cinex is now part of the collective memory of Namur. This building, formerly a hotel, takes its name from a cinema dating back to the post-war era. Since that time, the Cinex has evolved and its activities have changed: From the neighborhood cinema, it has become a socio-cultural center in the popular neighborhood Saint-Nicolas. The Cinex non-profit organization, forged around this historic site, is now involved in creating and participating in social economy initiatives and is assisting other associations similar in character to its own.
